  EDWARD CARADEOG PROTHEROE

(1908-1978)

Edward Caradoc, was the second son of Tom & Morfydd Protheroe.  He started his working life in the Cambrian Collery, Clydach Vale, he left after a short period to work as a Dairyman in London.

 It is not known how long he stayed in this work, before moving back to South Wales, where he married a Clydach Vale girl, Elizabeth (Libba) Williams.  of Wern Street, daughter of David Williams  a Stone Mason, who helped to sink the Shaft at the Cambrian Collery

He took up employment as a Male Nurse at Hensol Hospital, Pontyclun. After a few years he left that employment to work as a Winding Engineer, at the Glamorgan Hemertite Iron Ore Mine, Llanharry.

 Where he stayed until his retirement in 1975. Sadly after a few years of retirement, he died of Motor neuron disease in 1978. His wife Libba, lived on until 1998, when she died of M.R.S.A. at the ripe old age of 84.

They had one son David Lindsay, who was born at Brynsadler, Pontyclun, in 1936, and was Christened over his Grandfather's Coffin, David Williams (above) who had died of a heart attack shortly after the birth. This is an old Welsh custom, where the spirit of the dead, passes to the new.
